Women MPs trumpet gender equality, law reforms

Women parliamentarians and stakeholders gathered in Windhoek to debate on how women’s rights can be strengthened during the Joint Women Parliamentary Caucus (JWPC) and Women’s legislative capacity-building conference on Friday in Windhoek.

With women constituting approximately 42.3% of National Assembly members as of January 2026 and women’s representation in the National Council at approximately 16.6%, National Assembly speaker Saara Kuukongelwa-Amadhila said this illustrates the urgent need for women to be more included in leadership and decision-making positions.
