A 62-year old woman was allegedly stoned to death by her son with mental health condition at Kumarapuram near Tiruchendur on Friday.

Police said the deceased was identified as Renuka, 62. She had two sons. Her younger son Thangalabalan, 27, allegedly attacked her with a grinding stone, after his father left home in the morning. He reportedly sent a photograph of his mother to his elder brother, who is working in another city.

Police said Thangabalan had reportedly been undergoing treatment for a mental health condition for the past two years at a psychiatry clinic in Thoothukudi.
