Chikkamagaluru police on Wednesday took a 30-year-old woman who allegedly posed as a police sub-inspector and cheated several people in the town, into custody.
The accused, Ammu Gowda alias Nivedita Gowda, a native of Ramanagara district, introduced herself as a sub-inspector working in Bengaluru and befriended many people in the town. She showed them a photograph of herself in police uniform on her mobile phone and claimed she was on leave for personal reasons.
