A 60-year-old woman was killed and 13 people injured when three minibus taxis collided on Nelson Mandela Boulevard in Cape Town on Monday.

Cape Town traffic spokesperson Kevin Jacobs said the collision, which occurred before the Browning Road turn-off, was reported at 7.52am.

"[We] can confirm a multi-vehicle collision on Nelson Mandela Boulevard inbound before Browning Road earlier today," Jacobs said.

"A 60-year-old woman was declared deceased [at the] scene.

"Three other people sustained serious injuries and 10 more were treated for slight injuries.

"The left lane remains obstructed at this time."
