Woman held for stealing gold jewellery in Cuddalore

Police in Cuddalore have arrested a 36-year-old woman for breaking into a house and stealing gold jewellery and cash. The suspect was apprehended during a vehicle check after authorities reviewed local CCTV footage.

The Cuddalore New Town police have arrested a woman in connection with a house break-in case at Vadakupalayam on August 13.
The police identified the accused as Shamsad alias Mariam Biwi, 36, of Thiyagadurgam in Kallakurichi district.
On August 13, after Selvaraj, 52, and his wife Banumathi left for work, Mariam Biwi allegedly broke open into the house and decamped with 21 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹10,000 in cash. Based on a complaint, the New Town police took up investigation.
