Woman dies after falling into ‘hot sambar vessel’ during Ganesh Nimajjanam ‘Annadanam’

A woman identified as Maddi Sujatha (45) died while undergoing treatment for critical burn injuries sustained after accidentally falling into a large vessel of boiling sambar at K.L. Rao Nagar in Kothapeta, Vijayawada.

According to sources, Sujatha, a helper to a cook, was preparing food for ‘Annadanam’ during Ganesh Nimajjanam. She lost control and fell into the vessel while shifting it. “She was admitted to the Government General Hospital, where she died on Monday (September 21, 2026),” said West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) N.S.V.K. Durga Rao.
