A 43-year-old woman died after she was trapped between a manually operated lift and its entrance at an apartment complex in Chandanagar on Tuesday morning. Police have registered a case based on a complaint alleging negligence during lift maintenance work.
According to the complaint lodged by her husband, Dhadi Srinivas, he and his wife, Anasuya, had gone to Chatwal Mansion Apartment in Annapurna Enclave at around 11 a.m. to visit his maternal uncle, who was recuperating from a head injury. Srinivas said that he was already in the lift and and his wife was stepping inside when it suddenly started moving upwards before the doors had fully closed. Anasuya was trapped between the lift and the entrance, suffering grievous injuries to her waist and other parts of her body before losing consciousness.
