Woman dies after being hit by train while crossing tracks

A 63-year-old woman died and a one-and-half year old baby was seriously injured after being hit by a suburban train near Korukkupet railway station on Sunday.
A senior official of the Government Railway Police (GRP) said A. Moideen Beevi, a resident of Pazhaverkadu near Ponneri, had brought her grandchild, Mohammad Zayan, to visit her daughter-in-law in Royapuram.
After visiting her, Beevi was to board a suburban train to return home with the child. As she was carrying the child and crossing the tracks, a suburban train hit her. Beevi was killed on the spot after suffering head and body injuries.
