The Tiruvottiyur police on Saturday arrested two women for cheating an individual under the pretext of securing a house at the Urban Habitat Development Board.
A senior official of the city police said Manjula, 57, and her daughter Aruna, 32, of Korukkupet were members of the TVK party’s Adi-Dravidar Welfare wing. They took ₹7 lakh from Gnanaprakasam, a resident of S.K.T. Nagar Srinivasapuram in Tiruvottiyur, to get a house allotted through the Urban Habitat Housing.
