Interrogation of a couple arrested in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman in Guduvanchery has revealed that the woman was allegedly killed after she pressured her male partner to marry her, claiming that she was in a relationship with him, police sources said.
On Saturday, the Guduvanchery police arrested Manik Uddin Laskar, 22, of Assam, and his wife Bhagabati Majhi of Odisha at Kashimpur in Jiribam district of Manipur in connection with the murder. The victim, Hayathun Nisha, 38, of Odisha was allegedly murdered at a rented house on Mosque Street in Guduvanchery. Her dismembered body was later found inside a suitcase on the Tamil Nadu Express on August 5.
After the train reached Agra, passengers noticed a foul smell emanating from a red suitcase in an unreserved compartment. The Government Railway Police personnel opened the suitcase and found the headless and dismembered body of a woman.
