The 21-year-old injured woman, who was admitted to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on July 20 in critical condition, has shown satisfactory recovery, hospital officials said on Thursday evening, adding that she would be discharged later in the day with appropriate follow-up advice.
While hospital authorities did not provide the exact cause of her injuries, protesters at the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march have claimed that she sustained injuries in a “stampede-like” situation following the police lathi-charge.
In a release, the hospital stated that on admission, the woman was resuscitated in the emergency department and shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU), where she was placed on ventilator support.
“Following sustained clinical improvement, she was successfully weaned off ventilator support and, after one week in the ICU, shifted to the Nursing Home ward for further recovery and rehabilitation,” read the RML Hospital statement.
