A 33-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident in West Auckland that left three people injured. The court has granted her interim name suppression due to her medical condition.
Why it matters
This is a significant local crime report involving multiple victims, including a child, highlighting community safety and legal proceedings.
A woman accused of attempted murder after a stabbing in West Auckland is too unwell to speak to her lawyer, a court has heard.
The woman was due to appear in Waitākere District Court today after three people were hospitalised for their injuries on Sunday night.
Two were in a critical condition, and police said this morning two people had “injuries consistent with knife wounds”.
Duty lawyer for the accused, Andrew Comeskey, told the court he was not able to take legal instructions from the accused because of her condition in hospital.
He successfully asked that the woman be placed on remand and be granted interim name suppression.
Judge Grant Fraser ordered that she appear at the Waitākere District Court tomorrow.
The three people involved were known to each other, police said, and no one else was being sought.
