Foreign Minister Winston Peters touched down in Suva, Fiji on Thursday night for a day of meetings with Pacific counterparts.
He will take off his NZ First leader “hat” and don the hat of statesman - a hat he wears rather well, and which he seems to prefer wearing, although, as ever, the NZ First leader hat is never far away – and could make an appearance if the National Party’s latest round of instability engulfs the rest of the coalition.
Peters is meeting with fellow foreign affairs ministers – or their equivalents or substitutes – at the Pacific Islands Forum foreign ministers meeting. Sixteen delegations are represented. It’s a scene-setting round of discussions ahead of the leaders meeting, which is next month in Palau.
