Late this afternoon, Lotto confirmed that the sole winner of the draw had come forward and claimed the bounty.
The $28m golden ticket was sold at Grant Bros Homeware and Gifts and the shop’s owner is thrilled for the city’s newest multimillionaire.
While nobody had popped in to claim the prize in person, owner Renee Grant was preparing for the excitement when the store opens at 9am on Monday.
Grant told the Herald that the shop’s only other Powerball winner was in 2017, when a ticket sold at the store won $6m.
