Windhoek hit by rain and hail, more expected

Windhoek, Namibia, has been hit by significant rainfall and hail, with some areas recording up to 90mm of precipitation in a few hours. Meteorological services warn that unstable weather conditions, including thundershowers, are expected to persist across the country through Friday.

RAIN and hail swept across Windhoek this afternoon, with forecasts indicating that these conditions are likely to continue.
Parts of the capital city have already been significantly affected by today’s showers, with Auasblick recording 90 millimetres (mm) of rain and Kleine Kuppe 65mm within a few hours. These rainfall totals were recorded while the showers were still ongoing.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Service, the central parts of the country will receive more rainfall on Friday. The public is advised to remain vigilant and refrain from driving through flooded areas.
