Will try to instil discipline among Congress workers, says new DKDCC president

Why it matters
This outlines the strategic direction of a key regional political leader following a controversial appointment.
Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister B. Janardhana Poojary is known as a strict party disciplinarian. “Being an admirer of the senior leader’s politics, I would like to instil this discipline among the party workers,” said Padmaraj R. Poojary, the newly appointed president of Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DKDCC) said on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Padmaraj, who unsuccessfully contested as Congress candidate against BJP’s Capt. Brijesh Chowta in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, said he will not hanker for contesting any election in the future. “My only aim is to bring the party back to its past glory in Dakshina Kannada and win all the eight Assembly constituencies in the 2028 elections.” Mr. Padmaraj said he will further strengthen the party organisation at the ward level and ensure party’s victory in the elections to be held for local bodies.
