Will Air Canada have a new YVR flight to this epic hot spot?

The immortal words of the late Robin Williams may ring in your ears when you think of a trip to Vietnam. Or, since Vancouver has a flourishing Vietnamese culinary scene, you might dream of slurping down a fragrant bowl of pho from its homeland.

And direct flights from Vancouver to Ho Chi Minh City may even depart for the first time in the new year (but that is speculative at this point...sort of).

The Canadian government signed a groundbreaking Air Transport Agreement with Vietnam on Thursday (Sept. 24), opening the skies for the first direct flights between the two countries.

Air Canada welcomed the expanded agreement, noting it would bolster "commercial and cultural ties between the two countries." The airline plans to launch scheduled service in 2027 to Ho Chi Minh City, according to a news release.
