Widening of road linking Uttarahalli-Mysuru Road to be completed soon: Krishna Byre Gowda
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that road-widening projects linking Uttarahalli to Mysuru Road will soon resume using a new land acquisition scheme. The project, which faced delays due to property owner reluctance, is now moving forward with increased cooperation and forest department coordination.
Why it matters
The resolution of this long-pending infrastructure project is critical for urban mobility and development in the Bengaluru region.
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda told the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that the government was planning to quickly complete the long-pending work related to widening of Uttarahalli Main Road that links in Mysuru Road with the help of new TDR (Transferable Development Rights) scheme.
Replying to MLA for Yeshwantpur S.T. Somashekhar during the Question Hour, the Minister pointed out that the road-widening work was yet to be completed though work order in this regard had been provided in 2021 itself.
He attributed the delay to the lack of interest in the earlier TDR scheme among owners of 133 properties that were proposed to be acquired for road-widening.
