For the first time at the 2026 World Cup , U.S. President Donald Trump is in the house.
Trump waited until the very end to make his first appearance, as he attended the final between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The president was one of a number of dignitaries in attendance. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum were also both at the match, making all three host countries of the tournament represented.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and King Felipe VI were there as well, though Argentina President Javier Milei is skipping the match, citing superstition.
