The story so far: In July 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice announced a massive takedown of another criminal enterprise that tried to defraud Medicare, the U.S. government healthcare benefits program. The takedown named “324 defendants, including 96 doctors, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other licensed medical professionals, in 50 federal districts and 12 State Attorneys General’s Offices across the United States, for their alleged participation in various health care fraud schemes involving over $14.6 billion in intended loss.”
The U.S. Justice Department charged four individuals in the Northern District of Texas with health care fraud schemes totalling over $210 million as part of national takedown. Mohammed Khadeer Khan (46) is among the four individuals named by the Justice Department.
