While text messages continued to work for some users, multimedia uploads were reportedly delayed or stuck. Downdetector showed widespread complaints, but WhatsApp had not immediately issued an official statement on the reported disruption.
New Delhi, Aug 10: Meta-backed WhatsApp users reported media-sharing issues globally on Monday, with disruptions affecting photos, videos, stickers, GIFs and other multimedia content. According to outage-tracking platform Downdetector, complaints began emerging early Monday morning across several countries.
Downdetector data indicated that 41 per cent of reported issues involved messaging , while 40 per cent were related to the WhatsApp app and 13 per cent concerned notifications. Several users said text messages continued to work normally, but multimedia files either took longer to send or remained stuck during uploading.
