WhatsApp lists Android phones that can no longer use the app
Layer 1 WhatsApp has outlined the Android phones that can continue using its messaging platform, meaning phones that do not meet the requirements may eventually lose access to the app.
According to WhatsApp, the messaging platform currently supports Android phones running Android 6.0 and newer.
The device must also be capable of receiving SMS messages or phone calls, which is required for the WhatsApp account verification process.
Android devices running operating systems older than Android 6.0 are not supported by WhatsApp.
The platform regularly ends support for older operating systems as part of efforts to keep up with advances in technology and security.
