SEREMBAN: For Malaysian hockey icon Franco D’Cruz, the journey home from London offered something he had not experienced before.
He had returned to Seremban before. On Sept 5, however, he attended his first Old Paulians’ Association (OPA) reunion, joining nearly 2,000 former students for a centenary celebration of friendship, loyalty and shared memories.
Franco knew he was there to receive a Paulian Olympian Legacy Recognition Certificate and plaque. What he did not expect was the warmth that greeted him.
Younger Paulians approached him to talk about his playing days. Some told him their fathers had spoken about him as a forward of power, acceleration, audacity and vision.
Then came another, more personal moment.
