What's inside: Greenbelt 2 reopens 1st floor as retail replace restaurants

Greenbelt 2 in Makati is reopening its ground floor following a two-year renovation that shifts the focus from restaurants to retail spaces. Several iconic dining establishments have closed or relocated as part of the mall's modernization efforts.
Why it matters
The renovation reflects broader trends in urban retail development and the shifting landscape of high-end commercial spaces in Manila.
MANILA, Philippines - Makati's Greenbelt 2 mall is reopening its ground floor after two years of renovations.
The mall closed its ground level in January 2024 with plans to turn its al fresco restaurants into retail spaces.
This change means bidding farewell to some iconic dining spots, especially the flagship branch of Mary Grace Cafe, which opened in 2011.
A Mary Grace can still be found in nearby Greenbelt 5 as does Italianni's, which used to be in Greenbelt 2. Manam moved to Greenbelt 3, while The Perfect Pint and Sugi are no longer in the mall complex.
