Heavy rain and possible snow are set to hit parts of central New Zealand as a large trough moves across the country today and Monday. Metservice said the system would bring heavy rain to many areas, while snow could also effect mountain passes of the South Island. "Please keep up to date with the latest forecasts," the forecaster said. Orange heavy rain warnings were in place for the Tararua Range from tonight, as well as the Grey and Buller Districts and Nelson Lakes from today.
