Westpac New Zealand customers have vented their frustration over being unable to use online banking this morning following technical issues.

The outage, which lasted several hours, led to some customers being unable to pay bills, transfer money and meant overnight payments have been delayed.

In an update on its website after midday, the bank said access to its online banking – Westpac One – had been restored.

“The team continues to work through residual impacts from this morning’s outage including clearing held payments and working to rectify timelines.

“We sincerely apologise for the disruption.”
