NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday announced that cases registered by the previous government against members of the Kurmi community in connection with a violent protest last year would be withdrawn.Adhikari made the announcement while addressing the grand Kurmi Karam festival at Karadi Maidan in Purulia. The community had held an agitation demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) in the district in September 2025.“All cases registered by the previous government against Kurmis during their agitation will be withdrawn,” Adhikari said.
