WEHI study reveals a new immune pathway for fighting small cell lung cancer

Researchers at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute have identified a previously overlooked immune cell capable of recognizing and targeting small cell lung cancer. The study, published in Cancer Cell, suggests that higher levels of these specific immune cells correlate with improved patient survival rates.
Why it matters
This discovery could lead to more effective immunotherapies for small cell lung cancer, which is currently one of the most aggressive and difficult-to-treat forms of the disease.
