Weekend forecast brings bad news - Latvia faces rain, thunderstorms and strong winds

Latvia is bracing for a weekend of unstable weather, including rain, thunderstorms, and strong wind gusts. Temperatures are expected to remain relatively cool, with conditions improving slightly by Monday.

On Friday, skies will be cloudy, with periods of rain expected in many parts of Latvia. Thunderstorms with heavy and possibly even very heavy rainfall are also forecast in some areas, mainly in the north of the country, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A light to moderate southerly to southwesterly wind will blow, with gusts reaching 15–17 m/s along the coast at night and also in central and eastern parts of the country during the day. Overnight temperatures will fall to between +12°C and +17°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +15°C to +18°C.
On Saturday, skies will remain mostly cloudy, although some areas may see occasional clear spells. Rain is expected at times across most of the country, with thunderstorms and heavy downpours possible locally.
