The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of eastern and southern India, while Delhi-NCR is likely to remain largely dry on Tuesday, September 22.Several parts of India are also likely to see rain and thunderstorms over the next few days as a weather system over the Bay of Bengal becomes more organised. The weather situation is expected to be most severe in Odisha, where a deep depression developing over the Bay of Bengal is likely to bring intense rainfall. The system is expected to move towards the South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coast and reach the west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal near the coast around the morning of September 23.The weather body has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall of more than 20 cm in Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri for September 23.
