Weather: Rain to spread across country as frosty spell ends for everywhere but Crown Range Rd

New Zealand is set to experience a shift in weather as a cold, dry spell ends and rain spreads across the country this weekend. While temperatures will warm up, a road snowfall warning remains in effect for the Crown Range Road.
Why it matters
Accurate weather reporting is essential for public safety and travel planning, particularly regarding road conditions in mountainous regions.
Temperatures are set to warm this weekend, but the recent run of sunny days and frigid mornings is coming to an end as rain spreads across most of the country.
Metservice meteorologist Braydon Peters told the Herald the chilly settled spell would give way to wetter conditions through the weekend.
“That’s all changing this weekend, some may say thankfully, others not so much.”
A heavy rain watch is in place for Northland from tomorrow morning to later that night.
A separate heavy rain watch has been issued for the eastern ranges of Bay of Plenty from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning.
“We’re not expecting extremely large rainfall intensities, but just due to the length of time, there could be some reasonable total rainfall amounts over that period.”
