Weather: Orange heavy rain warning for Eastern Bay of Plenty, up to 90mm forecast

MetService has issued an orange heavy rain warning for the Eastern Bay of Plenty in New Zealand, with significant rainfall expected through tomorrow morning. Residents are advised to prepare for potential flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

An orange heavy rain warning remains in place for Eastern Bay of Plenty, with MetService forecasting up to 50mm of rain could fall overnight on top of what has already fallen.
The warning for the ranges of eastern Bay of Plenty took effect at 3pm today and will remain in force until 4am tomorrow, an hour later than previously forecast.
In an 8pm update, MetService said another 30 to 50mm of rain was expected on top of what had already fallen. Peak rainfall rates of 10 to 20mm an hour were possible.
“Streams and rivers may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions [are] possible,” MetService said.
