We The Leaders release a policy paper for a clean and sustainable Tamil Nadu
The 'We The Leaders' movement, founded by former BJP leader K. Annamalai, has released a comprehensive policy paper aimed at improving environmental sustainability in Tamil Nadu. The report addresses issues such as climate change, groundwater depletion, and waste management, proposing a state-wide environmental movement.
Why it matters
The initiative represents an attempt to bridge grassroots political activism with expert-led policy solutions for climate and environmental challenges.
Former State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K. Annamalai’s recently launched We The Leaders ‘grassroots leadership movement’ has released a policy paper for a clean and sustainable Tamil Nadu, with inputs from experts in the fields of environment and health.
Pointing out that all sectors of the economy, along with agriculture, coastal livelihoods, and urban infrastructure, are currently severely affected by changing weather patterns and climate impact, the report says studies from across India and the world highlight a close link between climate vulnerability and developmental stagnation.
The report is published not merely to identify problems, but to contribute to the search for practical, workable, and sustainable solutions that secure Tamil Nadu’s development, the group said.
