The family wanted a better quality of life, more affordability, and a greater sense of community. West told BI that their family is happier, but raising a child abroad isn't always smooth sailing. After Cara West became a mother in 2022, she began rethinking the kind of life she wanted for her family. She grew increasingly concerned about the cost of living in the US, the lack of community she felt in Houston, and the quality of education her child might receive. "I considered the possibility of moving abroad to live more affordably and comfortably ," West, 35, told Business Insider.
