A couple who moved from New York City to a rural Maryland beach town found themselves struggling with isolation and a lack of community. They eventually sold their home to pursue a nomadic lifestyle.

My husband and I bought a house in a beach town, just minutes from the water in either direction. We thought that was the next step we needed and wanted, but after a year, we realized we were wrong. We sold the house, broke even, and are now traveling full-time with no plan to settle down soon. In the summer of 2024, my husband and I bought our dream house in a small town in Maryland. We knew virtually no one in our new town , but at the time, that didn't matter to us. It had everything we wanted: brand-new construction, around our budget, and it was just minutes from two different beaches.
