‘We did not want to give up’: Doctor recalls 30-minute CPR that revived former BRS MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy

Nine to ten cycles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) administered over nearly 30 minutes revived former BRS MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest moments after arriving at a private hospital in Telangana’s Hanumakonda district with severe breathlessness, according to the cardiologist who led the resuscitation effort.

Speaking to The Hindu , Dr. Mamatha Reddy, cardiologist at Rohini Superspeciality Hospital, said Mr. Sudarshan Reddy had been brought to the emergency department with severe shortness of breath and was unable to speak because of the severity of his condition. “I was called for a cardiology emergency. By the time I reached the casualty, the emergency team had already intubated him and initiated CPR. His pulse and blood pressure were not recordable,” she said.
