It was a sell-out crowd and there was certainly a sense of excitement around the ground for the start of a new era under a new manager.
But for the second match in a row, Iraola's side threw away a two-goal lead - albeit after he made a string of substitutions - and when it comes to quality squad depth, Liverpool have a problem.
"It was quite similar to the game we played against Leeds ," Iraola told LFC TV after the match.
