The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here on Tuesday (September 1) granted the Sreekaryam police custody of former Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee (DCC) member Chenthi Anil for a day until 4.30 p.m. on Wednesday. The order was issued in the case involving alleged waylaying of Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan’s convoy and misbehaviour with him.

The court accepted the prosecution’s argument that the accused needed to be questioned to determine the involvement of other people in the alleged conspiracy to obstruct and insult the Chief Minister.

The prosecution also pointed out that Mr. Anil had six other pending cases against him, and accused him of maintaining links with anti-social elements.
