Ms. Vadra is also expected to meet victims injured in the disaster who are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Meppadi and later attend a felicitation programme for the search and rescue teams.
Her visit comes amid criticism from political opponents, including the CPI(M) and the BJP, who questioned her absence in the immediate aftermath of the disaster on July 7. However, party sources maintained that Ms. Vadra’s visit to the site was delayed to “avoid disrupting” the search and rescue operations.
