Major and Medium Irrigation Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy on Wednesday told the Legislative Assembly that some quantum of water from the Tungabhadra reservoir would be released to canals in a couple of days.

Replying to Congress member Kampli Ganesh during Question Hour, the Minister said he and Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar eld consultations with the Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister in this regard.

He recalled that a meeting of the Irrigation Advisory Committee of Vijayanagara district that had met under the chairmanship of Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj S. Tangadagi on August 11 had decided to release appropriate quantum of water for drinking water purpose and to canals.
