Water supply to north Chennai areas affected; work in progress to repair burst in major pipeline
Piped water supply to several areas in north Chennai has been suspended due to a major pipeline burst on GNT Road. Chennai Metrowater is currently conducting repairs on the 1,200 mm diameter pipe and expects to restore service by 10 p.m. on September 9.

Following a burst in a major pipeline carrying drinking water from Puzhal water treatment plant during early hours on Monday, Chennai Metrowater has commenced repair work on the damaged section on GNT Road.
A press release said various places in north Chennai, including Vadaperumbakkam, Kosapur, and Chettimedu in zone 2, wards 25, 26, 28 to 31 in zone 3, all areas covered by Patel Nagar distribution station in zone 4 and wards 71 and 72 in zone 6, will not receive piped water supply till 10 p.m. on September 9.
