Water crisis hits Vizag; GVMC increases tanker supplies
Visakhapatnam is facing a severe water crisis due to poor rainfall and depleted groundwater, forcing the municipal corporation to increase tanker operations. The city has launched a 'Dial-A-Tanker' service to manage the high demand for drinking water.

The crisis has particularly affected areas such as Arilova, Yendada, Madhurawada and Bheemunipatnam, where even drinking water supplies have come under strain.
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has had to make emergency arrangements and step up water tanker operations to meet the water demand.
The shortage has also triggered a sharp rise in demand for private water tankers, particularly among residents of apartments and large residential complexes. Several residents said that they were being forced to spend nearly ₹6,000 to procure water via tankers.
