Water Authority steps up pace of Jal Jeevan Mission work in Thiruvananthapuram district
The Kerala Water Authority is accelerating the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Thiruvananthapuram to provide tap connections to all rural households by 2027. While 66% of the work is complete, the district is working to meet national 'Har Ghar Jal' certification standards.

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) is accelerating the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in Thiruvananthapuram. The district currently ranks fourth in the State in the implementation of the national flagship scheme, which aims to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) to rural households.
Several of the water supply schemes and components necessary for providing connectivity in the rural areas of the district are expected to be commissioned over this year and the next. Subject to the availability of funds, the KWA is hoping to get all the targeted works completed by December 2027, a senior district-level official of the water utility said.
