The deceased K. Vellakutty, a resident of Mettupatti Thadanur, was working as a watchman of a firecracker godown at Kuttakadu near Veeranam. On Sunday (July 26, 2026) around 10.30 p.m., two youth in an inebriated state came to the godown and demanded Vellakutty to provide firecrackers to them. When he denied, the duo attacked him and broke his left hand. Upon hearing his cry, Vellakutty’s family members rushed to the spot and, on seeing them, the duo fled.
