NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, built at a cost of around Rs 4,900 crore.He also took a ride on the newly inaugurated stretch with Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay.PM Modi and Vijay jointly flagged off the new Metro services in the presence of Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The Prime Minister also purchased a ticket and briefly interacted with an employee at the ticket counter.The newly inaugurated stretch is part of Corridor 4 of Phase II and covers around 15 km, with 11 elevated Metro stations.
