Why it matters
The case has sparked a national conversation about institutional responses to sexual assault and the efficacy of university disciplinary processes.
Survivors, students and advocates rallied and protested in communities and on college campuses across more than 40 states.
This comes after a lawsuit was filed against by “Jane Doe”, who alleges she was given drugs and alcohol before being sexually assaulted by several members of Cornell's Chi Phi fraternity while incapacitated in October 2024.
