As Warriors fullback Taine Tuaupiki reflected after the gripping 31-30 win over Manly, there was only one word to sum up his week.
“Yeah, rollercoaster – that’s probably hitting it on the head,” Tuaupiki said. “It was definitely a rollercoaster week. Lucky I’ve got a a beautiful wife and a patient wife. She made the off-field stuff easy, for me to just handle the footy.”
After being the custodian for most of the season, Tuaupiki was demoted to the New Zealand side’s reserves for this match, with veteran Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad preferred in the No 1 jersey, before injury concerns forced the late reshuffle. And not for the first time, Tuaupiki showed his mettle and his aptitude for the big occasion.
