Warning against unregistered child care homes, illegal adoptions
The Madurai district administration has launched an inspection drive to identify and regularize unregistered child care institutions. Operators are warned that failing to register under the Juvenile Justice Act will result in legal action, including fines and imprisonment.

In a bid to streamline child welfare facilities across the district, the district administration has initiated a comprehensive special inspection drive and awareness campaign to identify and regularise unregistered Child Care Institutions (CCIs) run by government and non-governmental organisations.
The move follows guidelines issued by the Directorate of Social Defence, Government of Tamil Nadu.
According to the provisions under Section 41 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, all residential facilities providing care and protection to destitute or vulnerable children must be mandatorily registered through the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU).
Issuing a stern warning to operators, the administration directed administrators of currently unregistered CCIs to immediately apply for formal registration with the required documentation.
