Chennai means everything to me. No other place feels quite like Chennai. The warmth and friendliness of its people are truly special and I have always felt that Chennai is a safe city for women.
I studied MBBS at Madras Medical College from 1982 to 1988 and I cherish my memories of those years. The anatomy block, common hall, and seminar block hold a special place in my heart. One of my fondest memories is of the lunches my mother used to send me. In those days, long before food-delivery apps, “ Sappatukarans ”, much like Mumbai’s famous “ dabbawallahs ”, would bring our tiffin boxes, labelled with our names. My mother would often tuck little handwritten notes onto the boxes with short messages for me.
