Walmsley hopeful Grand Final role leads to new club

Lachlan Walmsley, a winger for Wakefield Trinity, is seeking a new club after his team's Super League Grand Final victory. Both Walmsley and teammate Cameron Scott are departing the club following a successful season.
Why it matters
Player movement and contract negotiations are central to the professional sports business cycle and team roster management.
Departing Wakefield Trinity winger Lachlan Walmsley is hopeful his starring role in their Grand Final win over Warrington Wolves can help him pick up a new team.
Trinity confirmed last month the 28-year-old Australia-born Scotland international would be leaving at the end of his contract this winter.
Walmsley's flick pass sent Cameron Scott over for Wakefield's first try as they claimed the Super League title for the first time.
"Hopefully there's a few clubs out there that are interested," he told BBC Radio Leeds.
"Whatever will be will be. If I had a good game and there's clubs out there that want me but if not then it is what it is.
Walmsley joined Trinity in the Championship for the 2024 season and scored 47 tries in 61 appearances.
